her renaissance was underway before eighteen always the bumblebee and a jumping-jack queen the maiden voyage of the S.S. freshman scene she's out to make her way gonna take back everything california couldn't hold her mississippi pensacola new york city i lost count i wouldn't hear from her sometimes years in between she'd be an acrobat or she'd be an easter queen i never told her but i thought she was everything she's like the air to breathe but she's like the wind to keep from the meadow to the prairie to the ocean to the city to the rock bar she can't be found

Minefields 04:50
ignoring what we've reached spoke slowly within the weeks poked phony beneath the sheets the old carpet reeks of cleaner and defeat we are winners at discrete falling with feathers why can't you say the words in your heart why can't we lay words that depart from minefields and tarps the advance is stowed in a bubble keeping cold in the rubble beneath the snow my glance is thrown to the side of your lens it's a sign of the end no more endeavors not one more holding not one more deserving ignoring night

house rage nights a mottled blob every kind of tail for every eye for every eye to see counters stocked with every type lets go spin around lets spin around lets spin around a while take it out into the yard everything that burns on every arm the end of every one hinges off of every door spirits overflow in every soul in nearly every one it's in

bet he knows exactly what you want we all watch him hold it from you until he does something wrong and i'm sure it feels like a good show: when opposites attack but it's not love when you take him back you say you're the victim, we can't argue none of us wants to see you go through this all by yourself and i'm sure you're right we don't know why it is you take him back but it's not love i think we all know that can you see us wearing out on this end none of us wants to give up but what else can we do still i'm sure we'll all be there should you ever knock him on his ass it's just love that keeps us coming back

Tennessee 06:10
at the start of a story at the end of a lifetime long like the age of good whiskey the clock slowed and the curtains drawn i'm the ghost of my father the sunset-on-a-mirror's son the reflection of the river is it ending or only just begun and i've never really left tennessee the marshes to the mountains stretch out in my memory the graves of my family from the nineteenth century and i'll have a place there when the ground calls for me the tears of fresh spring water run as when my father was young under the hills of maury county for the hardship that he'd overcome

go ahead take the chalk and scamper you can draw your simple shape and gloat your normal blanket that barely warms your toes and sit soft uncomfortably and catch other's glances but stay quiet and stay wrapped up in a chance for your nothing i'm gone there are rocks by the window water splashes on them harshly but they sit comfortably as you would if you left this fairytale reverie we'd be gone from the stress beauty is made of that blocks your normal life it barely warms your toes go ahead the chalk you can have it to try and draw your simple life and catch glances from other until regret replaces fear and you realize you're fallen you're falling with him you're fallen you're falling within

One More Day 06:11
sunlight blinks in through her yawning curtains brushes the bed where we lie and her arms are still around me smell of pine and warm air and the flowers of her sheets her lips pursed with the last precious breaths of sleep i'll stay all day with her we were both interred in the sorrow of our youth building worlds to our pasts for the losses endured we'd hold tight for fear that the other was a dream for fear love lived only in the domain of sleep one more day to love her in one more day to live comfortably in i hear a whisper i'd know her without words our plans and secrets our day was well lived you come back of a night so much less frequently now it's an arrest to my dream when i wake beside myself as you turn away what’s that I hear you say and your sad eyes still haunt me from our final day the day our song is always on

on the ocean floor of all my things there's a storage cell my history rests in (you can't get in it) for the treasures there lie silently as the sunken wealth of my own kingdom (the ancient museum) when the lights go out in the crypt i keep all the things i own behind me whisper (the walls are spinning) all the love i've shown for inanimate things they to life it brings (and try to get out) in the underground my hard drives sleep with the wisdom of magnetic magi (and obsolete now) and my baseball cards form their own leagues and in my libraries the books all chatter (with pages flapping) and my figurines take up the dance and my old guitars they play themselves and (the party's started) all my photographs from the good old days (all living again)
